The people of Ghana mounts pressure on president Akuffo Addo who doubles up as the chairman of the ECOWAS to speak up and intervene in the ongoing massacre in Nigeria.
It has been some weeks when the Nigerian youth took over all nook and crany in the streets protesting to demand the end of SARS( Special Anti Robbery Squad). The Special Anti Robbery Squad is a force set up by the Nigerian government to help bring down Robbery and cyber crime in the country.
According to the youth of Nigeria, this Special forces acts the direct opposite of their functions and turns out to abuse their power. The Special forces rather harassed and extort money from innocent individuals by framing them up and accusing them of cyber crime. The Government of Nigeria decided to end it and set up another force under a careful scrutiny which the youth again, stood against it.
Yesterday was the pinnacle of the protest where in some live videos we sighted, the Nigerian army in the name of maintaining law and order massacred unarmed protesters in front of lekki toll gate singing the Nigerian anthem. This inhumane gesture has raised a lot of question about the instrumental bodies and agencies in the world for keeping mute whiles people of Nigeria are being murdered in cold blood.
According to eye witness report, the army deliberately took off CTTV cameras available at the area and took all the lights down which many people thinks their motive was to really annihilate the protesters. Ghanaian youth and some influencial celebrities took to Twitter today to express their disappointment in the ECOWAS chair, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akkufo Addo, for keeping silence in the midst of all these heartbreaking moments.
The people demands from him to act in his power as the ECOWAS chair and sanction the Nigerian Government for all the killings and harm he has caused the people. President Nana Addo is yet to say anything after many tags at him today and we will be keeping an eye on his page if he says anything. These are some random tweets we want to share;
